The Sandringham safari experience
Witness nature reawakening
As the wildlife continue to slowly settle into the rehabilitated former hunting grounds, sightings at Sandringham are more thrilling, authentic and wilder.
What you can expect on a Sandringham safari
Engaging safari experiences
Encounters at Sandringham are wild and the art of tracking is a key element allowing for engaging safari experiences. With only 10 game vehicles traversing the entire 5,000-hectare private reserve, safaris at Sandringham are unhurried.
Unique setting where four rivers converge
Waterside lodge location encourages the armchair safari from your deck or around a firepit soaking in the sunset. This relationship forms part of a safari experience that looks beyond individual sightings, with our guides bringing the wider environment to life through an understanding of animal behaviour, tracks, vegetation, birdlife and the many interconnected elements of the bush.
Nature in detail
Expect to discover nature in detail as our safaris at Sandringham showcase the abundant variety of wildlife on the reserve, from mighty elephants to tiny dung beetles. Feel the thrill and excitement as our highly skilled trackers employ the art of tracking to discover your next sighting.
Exceptional birding and walking safaris
Sandringham's lowveld location and water-rich terrain make it a birder's paradise that is best explored on foot and at a gentler pace.
A new chapter is being written
Our mission is simple: to restore Sandringham Private Game Reserve from a former hunting ground to what it was always meant to be – a protected area where nature is left to thrive. Bordering the Timbavati and Thornybush Game Reserves, Sandringham forms part of a thriving, interconnected ecosystem, which we collectively aim to protect through anti-poaching efforts, fire management and research activities. We understand that conservation knows no borders – and that the true inhabitants of the land are the animals that roam it.
